Microsoft 365 accounts come with a generous 50Gb mailbox in Outlook, but over the years even that will not be enough to store all your emails.
For those reaching the limits of their mailbox, but want to keep their historical emails (or simply find sorting their older emails is just not a mountain they want to climb), Online Archiving is the answer.
“As users have now been using Microsoft 365 for 10 years plus, we are starting to see many customers getting to the hard limit of the mailbox. Online Archive is free and part of their subscription, and automatically moves emails to special email folder that provides extra space for free,” explains Chris Joberns, managing director at Strident.
An Outlook online archive mailbox can store older email messages where they won't occupy space in your primary mailbox. This specialised mailbox appears alongside other mailbox folders in Outlook.
Default setting is two years, so any email older than that will go to your Online Archive. It will replicate the arrangement of your primary mailbox, so any subfolders will be present in the Online Archive too.
Strident will enable your archive mailbox on request and agree the policies that control when emails will be moved to archive and how long they will be saved there for you.
You may also wish to modify policy settings of your primary mailbox to improve its size and performance. You can manually move or set rules to auto-move messages to the online archive.
