Dura Composites powers up with Microsoft Teams

Dura Composites is a leading supplier of composite products for flooring, structures and façades; ideal for use in industrial, construction, rail and marine environments as a durable and cost-effective replacement for wood, steel and concrete.

"As a global business, it’s important we have secure and efficient ways of working and communicating with each other," explains Nathan Moore, IT Systems and Development Manager at Dura Composites. "Prior to working with Strident, we were already using Microsoft 365 and mail for around 60 users but were using a separate cloud-based data service to manage a lot of our data and were convinced there was a better way."

Following his appointment to the role, Nathan reviewed the way the company’s IT operated. "We wanted to continue to improve our systems and our previous IT support company were not as open to change as we were. Having spoken with Chris at Strident, it was clear that Microsoft Teams was a great resource that we were already paying for as part of our Microsoft 365 subscriptions but hadn’t tapped in to."

Cost savings and enhanced productivity

Although there were significant cost savings to be made from the move, enhanced security and productivity drove the decision. "There was a great opportunity to improve our business processes with the added benefit of reducing cost. We carefully reviewed the operational benefits with Strident to ensure the new solution would deliver what we needed."

Working with Nathan, Strident created a secure permission-based Teams environment to provide users with access to data they need but ensure privileged data was not available.

"We did lots of planning and were able to reduce 6 terabytes of data down to 1.5 terabytes of working data that we transferred to Teams," added Nathan. In addition, Dura Composites now uses Teams for all its internal telephony and messaging, allowing staff to collaborate quickly and easily with one another.

Transferring colleagues to Microsoft Teams was done in business groups. "There was a little resistance to doing things a new way, but once moved we’ve had no complaints. Microsoft Teams is easy to use so there hasn’t been much training required or issues to resolve. The new setup has worked very well for us and Strident has provided great support."
