6 April 2020
The Microsoft Office suite of programs is an essential part of many businesses. Originally consisting of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Office has developed dramatically over the years to include many new services, such as Teams, OneDrive, security and communication apps.
To reflect this this development, and the fact that many of these products are now being used for personal as well as business purposes, Microsoft is renaming its products on 21st April 2020 in order better represent what they encompass.
Office 365 Business Essentials is now Microsoft 365 Business Basic
Office 365 Business Premium is now Microsoft 365 Business Standard
Microsoft 365 Business is now Microsoft 365 Business Premium
Office 365 Business is now Microsoft 365 Apps (for business)
Office 365 ProPlus is now Microsoft 365 Apps (for enterprise)
The products, their pricing and what is available with them remains the same, it's just a name change. To recap, Microsoft 365 Apps is just the applications (Word, Excel etc. and OneDrive) where as the 365 Business packages include Teams, Exchange (email) and other business applications.
