Strident has been developing application software since 1995, with the application development team working closely with the rest of the business to provide a comprehensive ICT offering to businesses in East Anglia that includes on-premise support and cloud-based business solutions.
In 1996, Strident customer, Suffolk Agricultural Association, needed agricultural show management software to help organise and run their shows. With an ever-increasing number of exhibitors, trade stands, show competitors and visitors, and a unique set of requirements for their business sector, the development of bespoke software was the only solution.
Developed in close collaboration with Suffolk Agricultural Association, ShowBiz was born and still serves the association loyally to this day, albeit with many refinements and upgrades over the years. Realising the potential for other agricultural societies to benefit from this unique and powerful software, ShowBiz software continues to be developed by Strident to this day.
Built using Microsoft Visual Studio and SQL Server, ShowBiz started as a purely on-premise solution but has been developed to integrate web-based modules that extends the capabilities of the software allowing visitors, competitors and standholders to manage their transactions online. In addition to integrating with well-known accounting software, ShowBiz allows users to manage and report on all aspects of a show as well as provide text updates to show staff. The software now manages twenty eight UK shows with the potential to serve overseas markets too.
As ShowBiz developed, a switch in focus from purely improving internal operational efficiency to providing additional revenue channels gave ShowBiz-powered societies greater growth potential with visitors, trade stand holders and livestock entrants able to register and transact online.

The result is a feature-packed application that allows agricultural show societies to seamlessly manage shows, both in the office and on the move.
“We had literally battled with our former database system for many years and looked to ShowBiz to deliver a relatively pain free solution to its many problems. With the support of the team from Strident, this has now been achieved and as a result, the Society is managing its data in a very efficient and effective way, that not only ensures the sanity of its staff, but the satisfaction of it’s many ‘customers’. Strident continues to support the society to ensure it uses the full potential of this system,” said Nigel Evans, Cheshire Agricultural Society.
By working closely with its customers Strident has developed and supported a leading-edge software application that has become a product in its own right.
“We are very proud of what we have achieved with ShowBiz,” said Stuart Hawes, software development manager. “The software now works for 28 of the UK’s leading agricultural societies and underlines the breadth of ability and professional approach we take to all web and application development.”
